My Services
In Person-centred therapy, the client and the therapist work as a team. The therapist is supportive and avoids the use of judgement, suggestions, or solutions for the client's problems. Person-centred therapy is a type of non-directive therapy that is empathetically driven toward providing a person with a safe space to talk, self-actualise (realise your full potential), and make positive changes in their life. The goals of this practice include increasing self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-acceptance, leading to improve emotional resilience and more meaningful relationships with others.
Person-centred therapy, or client-centred therapy, is a type of psychotherapy that emphasises your subjective experience and your innate capacity for self-awareness and personal growth. As your therapist, I focus on your needs and offer a conducive environment for you to make decisions independently. Person-centred therapy is rooted in the belief that you have all the answers from within to thrive and that we all contain untapped potential.
Person-centred therapy helps facilitate your self-actualisation, allowing you to develop solutions to your problems and reach your full potential. You actively take control during each therapy session, while I act as a source of support where you feel heard and understood. You focus on maximising your ability to find solutions during the therapeutic process, which encourages positive change within yourself.
The three core conditions of person-centred therapy are genuineness and congruence, empathetic understanding and unconditional positive regard. The focus is on the present rather than dwelling on the past and is an effective tool for managing difficult situations such as trauma-related events. The non-directive nature of person-centred therapy encourages you to be more independent in finding the answers yourself.
The genuineness and congruence technique involves me as your therapist being genuine and harmonious toward you. I am open and honest about my thoughts and feelings and, by doing so, teach you to do the same which builds a trusting relationship between us.
Unconditional positive regard is total acceptance. This means that I always completely accept and support you. I validate that you are feeling and offer reassurance through active listening and positive body language.
Empathy is the true understanding and sharing of feelings between two people. I use empathetic understanding to get to know who you are - the way your experiences shape your life, your point of view of the world, yourself, and the people in your life. The main goal of empathetic understanding is to ensure that you feel completely understood in everything you say.

I offer In-Person and online counselling. Both are an effective way to engage with therapy. For Online sessions, after we both agree on a time and day, I send you an invite link via the secure platform Zoom to meet, and we begin our session. Sessions are weekly and last 60 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your preferences, but I will discuss this with you during your initial session. I offer both short and long-term sessions for £60.00 per session.
When you start working with an online therapist, you may feel apprehensive about beginning counselling. The therapeutic relationship is very important for success. I create a safe, non-judgmental space to support you so that we can build a trusting relationship. Online sessions are a very convenient way of undergoing therapy at your own pace, where you can find a quiet, comfortable space to be fully at ease.
Get in touch via francesca@ethereal-counsellng.co.uk and I will contact you to schedule an initial 10-minute FREE consultation. Here we will discuss what issues you are experiencing and your goals for therapy. You can also ask me any questions about the therapy process. If you want to proceed we can book your first in-depth online assessment session which usually lasts 60 minutes.
When you begin therapy with me, you control what we explore and discuss. My sessions take place in a safe and non-judgmental space, so you can talk freely and honestly about your experiences and current issues, helping you explore your emotions and feelings deeply. Therapy aims to help you find the answers from within, so you can understand better and move forward with your life.
Everything you discuss with me during our sessions is confidential. There are only two exceptions to this where I am obliged to break confidentiality: if you disclose involvement in or knowledge of any criminal activities or if there is a safeguarding issue if you or any adult or child related to you could potentially be under threat of harm or abuse.
